Matisse is undoubtedly an amazing artist. Towards the end of his life he cut out bold, simple shapes for use in collages. In the “Up in the Air” and “Swallow Dive” pieces, this method was used to great effect. Another piece – “Simple Spot” also began life in exactly the same way, but evolved to take on a wonderful organic block printed feel.

This look is very reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts Movement. As the seasons pass by, a multitude of changes occur within trees, and this movement is captured effectively in the “Four Seasons” design. The designs look wonderful on blinds, curtains and cushions.
