Getting adequate amounts of sleep is the key to good health and happiness, yet most of us don't get enough! Lack of sleep can contribute to numerous health risks and increase general stress levels. We have all been there, waking up half an hour or hour before we have to due to light coming through the curtains or being woken up by the pitta pattering of your children coming into your room at 6-00am on a summers morning!
There are a number of solutions to this. Make sure your new custom curtains or roman blinds have blackout lining. Not only will this reduce light coming through but also increase insulation levels. This is because blackout lining is draft proof. In the winter this will keep your bedroom warm at night and in the summer during the day you can have your curtains closed to keep your bedroom cool.
If your not planning of replacing your curtains with ready made or bespoke curtains you can buy blackout lining that can be clipped behind the existing curtains. Another alternative is to buy a blackout roller blind and fit that behind the curtains.
Which rooms to do! Well ideally all of them. If not then work out what is waking you up. If its the kids then sort out their curtains, if its light coming through your curtains then fix your curtains.
Other top tips with children's bedrooms include putting a towel across the top of their curtains or drown the side. You can work out easily if light is a problem in your children's rooms by closing their curtains during the day and shutting the door to see how much and where the light is coming from.
