Child Safety & Roman Blind Cords & Chains

• Roman blind cords or chains (and any other hanging cords, chains or ropes) can pose a risk for young children who could injure or strangle themselves on hanging looped cords.
• For this reason BSEN13120:2009+A1:2014 (Child Safety For Blinds) was brought in to reduce these risks.
• All cords at the rear of the roman blind will be fitted with break-away clips.
• This means that the cord will separate from the blind if a child pulls on the cord, thus eliminating the possibility of the cord getting wrapped round a child's neck.
• All roman blinds will be sent out with safety warning labels and fixing instructions.
• All chains will be sized so that the bottom of the chain is at least 0.6m from the floor.
• The only exception is if no 'height from ground' distance is supplied by the customer. In that case a 1m long chain will be supplied.
• All of our roman blinds have a built in safety mechanism that will cause the chain to separate from the roman blind if excessive force is applied, causing the chain to fall to the ground.
