At Curtains Made Simple, every made-to-measure bedspread is created with care, precision and craftsmanship. From the first stitch to the final press, our team ensures that your bedspread is made to fit your bed perfectly — and to reflect your personal style.
1. Choose Your Fabric
The process begins with you. Select from our extensive range of designer fabrics — from timeless classics to bold contemporary prints — by leading brands such as Harlequin, Sanderson, Designers Guild and many more. Each fabric is carefully inspected before cutting to ensure quality and consistency.
2. Tailored to Your Measurements
Simply enter the dimensions of your bedspread and we will make it to your requirements so it is a perfect fit. Whether you prefer a loose, flowing drape or a more structured and fitted look, we cut every piece to your specific measurements for a perfect finish every time.
3. Expert Cutting and Sewing
Our skilled makers cut and sew each bedspread by hand in the UK. Every seam is aligned precisely, ensuring patterns match and edges are perfectly finished. We use high-quality threads and linings to give your bedspread both durability and a luxurious feel.
4. Optional Padding and Lining
You can choose between having a simple lightweight bedspread or having an interlined layer to give your bedspread a more substantial feel, depending on the look you prefer.
5. Quality Inspection and Finishing Touches
Before leaving our workshop, every made-to-measure bedspread is carefully pressed, checked, and packaged to ensure it meets our exacting standards.
The result? A beautifully tailored, high-quality bedspread that complements your bedroom perfectly — made just for you.
Choosing a made to measure bedspread is the perfect way to achieve a beautifully tailored look for your bedroom. To ensure the ideal fit, it’s important to take accurate measurements before ordering. Follow our simple guide below to help you get it right the first time.
Step 1: Measure the Mattress
Start by measuring the width, length, and depth (or thickness) of your mattress. Use a steel tape measure for accuracy. Note these dimensions down — they form the foundation for your bedspread size.
Step 2: Decide on the Drop
The drop is how far you want the bedspread to hang down the sides and ends of the bed. A standard drop usually reaches to just above the floor or to the bottom of the bed base, depending on your preference.
For a traditional look, measure from the top of the mattress to just above the floor.
For a modern, relaxed style, a shorter drop may be preferred.
Step 3: Add Pillow Coverage (Optional)
If you’d like your bedspread to cover your pillows, simply measure from the head of the bed, over the pillows, down to the desired drop at the foot of the bed. This creates a more luxurious, hotel-style finish.
Step 4: Consider Bedside Furniture
If you have bedside tables close to the bed, you may wish to shorten the drop slightly so the bedspread doesn’t overlap or bunch around them.
Step 5: Double-Check Your Measurements
Before placing your order, double-check all measurements. Remember — each bedspread is made to order to your exact size, so accuracy ensures a perfect fit and professional finish.
Our hand-made bedspreads are available in four options: plain lining (with ivory lining), bonded interlining, interlined (separate interling), or unlined.
The price difference between the plain lining, bonded lining and unlined options is minimal, so we generally recommend choosing the interlined version as it gives the bedspread a more premium and luxurious appearance. However, if you want a sumptuous and luxurious look, then go for the separate interlined otions and you won't be disappointed.
If you prefer a lighter or more minimal look, the standard or unlined options may be more suitable. An unlined bedspread also allows the reverse side of the fabric to remain visible, which can be desirable for certain designs or textures.
For special requests, such as using a different fabric on the reverse side, please contact our team of bedspread specialists by phone or email.
If you have a special request, such as lining the reverse side of the bedspread in a different fabric, then please call or email our team of bedspread specialists.
When designing a made-to-measure bedspread, the lining plays an important role in both the appearance and performance of the finished product. Our bedspreads are fully lined to improve structure, durability, and comfort, and you can choose between two classic lining colours: white or ivory.
Both options are neutral, versatile, and designed to complement a wide range of bedroom fabrics and interior styles. The choice mainly depends on the colour tone of your outer fabric and the overall look you want to achieve.
White Bedspread Lining
A white lining offers a crisp, clean finish that works particularly well with:
White lining reflects light slightly more, which can help maintain a fresh and bright appearance. It is a popular choice for patterned fabrics where a neutral backing is desired without adding warmth to the colour palette.
Benefits of white lining:
Ivory Bedspread Lining
An ivory lining has a softer, warmer tone than pure white. It works beautifully with:
Ivory lining provides a more subtle finish and can feel slightly warmer and more luxurious in appearance. It is often chosen when the outer fabric has natural or warm undertones.
Benefits of ivory lining:
Which Lining Colour Should You Choose?
In most cases, the lining colour will not be visible when the bedspread is in place, so the choice is mainly about achieving a harmonious finish with your chosen fabric.
If you are unsure which option will best suit your fabric, our team is always happy to help guide you toward the most suitable choice.
Quality Lining for Long-Lasting Bedspreads
Whichever colour you choose, our bedspread linings are selected to provide:
This ensures your made-to-measure bedspread looks beautiful and performs well for years to come.
A piped bedspread is a classic bedding style that combines elegant tailoring with a clean, structured finish.
The addition of piping – a narrow fabric cord stitched into the seams – creates a subtle border that frames the bedspread and adds definition to the design.
The result is a polished, high-end look that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary bedrooms.
