At Curtains Made Simple, every pelmet is carefully handcrafted to your exact measurements, ensuring a beautifully tailored finish that enhances any window dressing. Whether you’re looking to add a smart, structured look to your curtains or conceal curtain tracks with elegance, our made-to-measure pelmets are designed and made with precision from start to finish.
The standard pelmets we make, come rolled with the soft side of the Velcro attached to one of the long sides.
Choose Your Fabric
Begin by selecting from our extensive range of designer fabrics - from soft linens and velvets to bold prints and textured weaves. Each fabric can be matched to your curtains or chosen as a contrasting accent to complement your décor.
Custom Sizing
Simply enter your pelmet width (including the side returns) and height. Our team uses your measurements to create a perfectly proportioned pelmet that fits your window space exactly, whether it’s for a single window, a bay, or a set of French doors.
Crafted by Skilled Makers
Our pelmets are made with buckram backing attached to the reverse of the fabric and the soft part of the velcro attached along one of the long sides. It is then sent rolled.
Receipt and fitting
Once your shelf/plinth have been fitted and the rough side of the Velcro atttached to the leading edge of the shelf/plinth you can begin. Unroll and carefully iron (on cool setting) the pelmet flat on a cool iron. Carefully iron (on cool setting) any corners that need to be created. Attach the pelmet using the Velcro to the shelf/pelmet.
Elegant, tailored, and built to last - our made-to-measure pelmets are the perfect finishing touch for your home, combining craftsmanship, quality materials, and personalised design.
Fixing Options
A) Across Top of Window Recess The rolled pelmet can be fixed to the top of the window recess in order to hide the curtain track, roman blind or roller blind mechanism that sits inside the recess.
Pelmet width - Either the recess width exactly or the recess with plus an overlap of your choosing.
Pelmet height - The distance from the top of the recess to where you want the pelmet to stop plus the overlap (we recommend 2cm at least) above the recess used for fixing. This will ensure that the pelmet can be attached and that it does the required job of hiding the curtain track etc.
Attaching Pelmet - Directly onto the wall (or a baton) above the recess. Either using glue or the rough side of the Velcro that has been pre-attached to the wall.
B) Plinth/Shelf
Where the curtain track (or roman blind or roller blind) sits outside the recess (or there is no recess) and there is a requirement to hide them, a plinth or small depth shelf needs to be placed above for the purposes of attaching the pelmet.
It is recommended that the curtain track be fitted and curtains hung prior to attaching the plinth/shelf to enable correct sizing and positioning.
Shelf/plinth height above curtains - Situated high enough above the top of the curtain, so that the curtains do not touch the underside of the plinth/shelf. A gap of at least 1cm is recommended between the top of the curtain and the underside of the plinth/shelf.
Shelf/plinth depth – the plinth/shelf should project from the wall the distance of the curtains (when stacked back) plus at least 2-3 cm. This is to avoid the curtains coming into contact with the pelmet.
Shelf/plinth width – the width of the curtain track plus 3 cm at each end.
Shelf/plinth material – Any form of wood is suitable; plywood, MDF or sawn timber. A minimum thickness of 2cm is recommended.
Attaching shelf/plinth – Right angled brackets of a suitable size, preferably fitted to the underside of the plinth/shelf near the end of each end of the plinth/shelf. Positioned so that they will either be hidden by the curtains or pelmet.
Pelmet width – The plinth/shelf width (B) plus the side return distance (c) x 2.
Pelmet height – The plinth/shelf thickness plus distance down to where the pelmet stops.

Delivery within mainland UK is £9 for all orders except cut-length fabric, where it is free on orders over £90. Delivery charges to other countries can be found here.
Refunds are generally not possible, due to the majority of the goods we sell being made-to-order or cut-to-order items and thus not subject to the Distance Selling Regulations. However, where errors have been made due to incorrect measurements or specifications, we will try to find a satisfactory solution to the issue.
Cancellation of orders will result in a 100% refund if no work has started or the fabric has not been sent by the supplier. After this, refunds will be the value of the order less costs incurred up until this point.
